Crimean crisis: Google Maps shows different borders of Crimea

The Crimean crisis continues to hit high waves: The Google Maps map service was compelled to display different versions of its world map and borderlines in order not to annoy either party.

This compromise is expressed in a dashed line around the Crimean peninsula to represent the unexplained border. This line is visible on almost all international versions of Google Maps - also in the United States and Ukraine.

However, the Russian version of Google Maps draws the border differently: here the Crimea is clearly separated and assigned to the Russian region. This is made clear by the solid line.

In other cases, Google also avoided political conflicts before it became internationally recognized.

In the Indian-Chinese conflict around the Aksai Chin region, the border is different: if the Chinese version of Google Maps is displayed, the area is displayed as a Chinese territory - the Indian card service proclaims Aksai Chin as an Indian state
