Tor browser: FBI reveals security gaps

As the Australian security researcher Nik Cubrilovic depicts in his blog, the well-known Tor browser can not always guarantee anonymity. Cubrilovic analyzed the successful FBI investigation against the drug marketplace “The Silk Road” and showed how the anonymization was cracked in this case.

According to US magazine Wired, the FBI had cracked the real IP of Silk Road without the help of the NSA by fooling around the Silk Road's "login page" until it revealed its true location. "

As it goes on, Tor is able to securely anonymize the applications that are specially adapted for anonymization. Otherwise, the Surfer's IP address can be read from the applications.
