Private users with a valid license for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 have the opportunity to take advantage of the Windows 10 Update offer for one year free of charge. Anyone who misses this period must pay for the upgrade. The costs for this have not yet been fixed, after all, an online retailer in the US already reveals first details on the price of Windows 10. However, they are not yet confirmed.

License holders of the different editions of Windows 7 and 8.1 get different versions of Windows 10. Users of Windows 7 Home Basic as well as Home Premium and the standard edition of Windows 8 and 8.1 get Windows 10 Home. Users of Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate and the Pro versions of Windows 8 and 8.1 receive Windows 10 Pro. As a rule, company computers run under a company license (volume license) - this is exempt from the free upgrade.

On various computers the advertising tool for Windows 10 starts immediately from now on in the reservation phase. If you have not previously blocked the corresponding Windows Update KB3035583, the program can now be pre-registered for the free upgrade via the program. The download will start on July 29th. The date was previously co-sponsored by AMD and a journalist from the technology website The Verge.
