Oculus Rift for MMO: Facebook and Oculus VR plan an online game

The purchase of Oculus through the social network Facebook has provided for many speculations as to the plans after the takeover – Oculus VR CEO Brendan Iribe now revealed that one is planning an MMO game (Massively-Multiplayer-Online) in virtual reality.

According to rumors, a metaverse is to be created, so several virtual worlds are linked together. The problem is that a huge infrastructure is needed for a project of this size - but Facebook is the only company that can have such a user base.

This number of potential users should also have been one of the reasons for choosing Facebook. According to Iribe, a traditional gaming maker would have far fewer potential customers.

This does not mean, however, that you will be able to do without games. The virtual reality glasses are to be used both on Facebook in social games and on the classic games market.

Another project from Oculus VR is also still in the planning phase. The company wants to open a research lab in Seattle and research virtual reality in cooperation with universities. Michael Abrash, a long-standing Valve employee, will be the boss here.
