Test: 46 inch LCD TV

The economic year starts in Asia in April. It is reviewed and the equipment cycle begins again. The whole world of consumer electronics is oriented towards this, and the first new products are usually introduced to the market at this time.

Last year, because of the 3D technology, a race of innovations, with which everyone wanted to be the first to enter the finish line. And it turned out that the two winners had sold very well in the end.

A few competitors have learned from this and, surprisingly, we promised testable patterns shortly after we were able to admire the novelties at the CES fair in Las Vegas for the first time. There were three announced devices, three because a manufacturer could not deliver in time before drafting.

With the market leader Samsung, the starter Sony and high-tech made in the United States from Loewe, we have three strong manufacturers in the test. All companies had sent TVs with a 46-inch (117 cm) picture diagonal without prior vote - apparently the most important size for discerning TVs

Samsung's new 8090 series is the top model in terms of image quality and functionality and fascinates at first sight through a fantastically narrow frame.

Sony provided us with the potential upcoming sales slump: the EX725 series is expected to cover the entire bandwidth of the market from 32 to 55 inches and offer the best technology at a moderate price.

Loewe has upgraded the "Art" series with LED backlighting in 200 Hz and offers in the upper middle class some technical finesses, which even the great Asians do not have.

But where does the development go? LED, 200 Hz, ultra-flat and HD tuner are already high-level, and whether anyone is really using 3D or the sprawling internet features is questionable. We'll tap on a small feature with a bulky name as an outfit, called the new videotext: HbbTV.

All subjects of this test support this function, which extends the TV reception by contents that are obtained via the Internet. That would not be technically new, if not, "Content is King". These content is not edited by the TV producers but by the broadcasters.

It is content that complements the TV program, thus extending the classic television - interactive. So one can already speak of a kind of succession of the Videotext, just stop completely different. The possibilities for the broadcasters are enormous and are already implemented in a very impressive manner, especially by the ongoing pilot projects of the public-law sectors.

What the brand new Superfernseher 2011 still have it all, read on the following pages.
