Usually newspapers are placed in several columns. So that your wedding season is really professional, you should create columns. The easiest method is to use the command “Format / Column”. Two or more columns can be easily set up with this command. The problem is, however, that this command always refers to a whole page. The delimitation to other articles is possible, but difficult. If you want to have multiple items of different length in your journal, Word’s column layout is not appropriate. Instead, it is useful to work with text fields. For longer texts, they can be linked together.
To have the text fields in your newspaper the same size (width), first insert and copy a text field with a fixed size. In the Drawing Bar, click the Text Box icon and drag a text box on the left side of the page. Double-click on the border of the text field to open the "Format text field" dialog. Enter the desired value in the "Size" tab under Width, ie "4.5 cm" - you will get a four-column newspaper.
Go to the tab and select "No line" under "Color" in the "Line" area.
Highlight the text field by clicking its frame and press the key combination "Ctrl" + "D". A second text box appears slightly moved above the first box. Click on this text box and drag it with the mouse button next to the first field so that the fields are the same.
Then press the key combination "Ctrl" + "D" twice. The text field is copied again and automatically inserted at the correct position. The command "Duplicate", which you call with the key combination "Ctrl" + "D", stores both the copying and the positioning command.
If you have not worked precisely enough, use the "Align and Distribute" command. You can do this via the "Draw" entry in the toolbar of the same name. To do this, select the first text box, press the "Shift" key and select the remaining three text boxes. Select "Align and Distribute" from the "Draw" menu, and then click "Distribute Horizontally" in the submenu. Tip: To be able to position text fields exactly, it is helpful to have the so-called grid network displayed. To do this, click the "Grid" entry in the "Draw" toolbar. Select the option "Show grid lines on screen."
