Teslacrypt: Blackmail Trojan has it on Savegames

The IT security company Kaspersky Lab warns of a Trojan called “TeslaCrypt”, which has been a real plague for PC players since 2017. The virus encrypts the game and then requests $ 500 for the release of the Savegames. Trojans who do this are also called “Ransomware.”

Already during the infection the PC shows first symptoms, which indicate that an encryption process by Teslacrypt takes place. Thus, the computer reacts extremely slowly in case of an attack, programs crash and the hard disk LED flashes without interruption. This is what Christian Funk, head of the American research and analysis team at Kaspersky Lab, told Spiegel Online.

If this process is not interrupted, a window will pop up saying: "Your files are encrypted". The payment of the ransom claim was to be done by bitcoins. However, Funk advises against the fulfillment of the claim. The unblocking of the Savegames is basically possible, but whether the topic was done with a transfer would be unclear.

A separate method for decrypting the game files has not yet been found. Nevertheless, it is advisable to keep the infected files, since such a solution could be found in the near future. In order to avoid being caught by such Trojans, it is most effective to keep the computer up-to-date and also to provide the anti-virus software with regular updates, Funk recommends.
