There are basically three ways to get to Bitcoins: You can sell products or services for Bitcoins, you can buy them on Bitcoin marketplaces or stock exchanges for other currencies, or you can make them yourself. The latter is true in conventional currencies as a criminal, but is desirable at Bitcoins to provide new virtual coins through the so-called bitcoin mining of the community.
Conventional PC hardware is far from sufficient for generating the hash values for the crypto representation of new coins, and there have been specialized hardware for this purpose. With its new H61 Pro BTC and H81 Pro BTC motherboards, Asrock has now created an option to use up to six graphics cards in parallel for the complex calculation of hash values for bitcoin mining.
The slots of the boards consist of one PCIe-x16 and five PCIe-x1 slots. In addition to the 24-pin ATX connector, the Bords are equipped with the 8-pin EPS12V connector and additional 5.25-inch power cable connectors for increased power requirements.
Since the card slots are arranged at the usual distance of the ATX standard, only a parallel use of three GPUs is possible with the use of current gaming graphics cards with double slot allocation. Whether the slots also hold cards with longer connectors, is not apparent from the documents. The generation of bitcoins by means of graphics cards is considered to be a little worthwhile because of the high electricity costs. Specialized hardware provides performance of several hundred GigaHash per second, while maintaining conventional low-single-digit graphics cards.
