You want to retrofit WLAN in the apartment or bring a wireless network into remote corners of your home? Then Devolo’s Amazon day offer might be interesting to you. On Friday, the “Devolo DLAN 500 WiFi Starter Kit” together with an annual license for the anti-virus program Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 for just 79.70 instead of almost 100 euros. In addition to the anti-virus software, the Devolo DLAN 500 WiFi Starter Kit consists of a basic unit and a WLAN unit. Connect the base to a DSL modem or a router using a network cable (included). Then the base comes in an unused socket. The power network now serves as a transfer path to the WLAN unit, which also hangs from a socket in a room where you want to use the WLAN.
The transmission speed via Powerline (DLAN) is 500 Mbit / s. The WLAN module radioed according to WLAN 802.11n standard in the 2.4 GHz band. Thus WLAN devices are theoretically available up to 150 Mbit / s. In practice, almost half of it should be around 7 to 8 megabytes per second. This is usually more than sufficient for smartphones, tablets or laptops. If you have a PC, a game console or a smart TV that requires higher transfer rates, you can also connect those devices via the LAN port (10/100 Mbps - maximum 12.5 megabytes per second) ) connect. If you want to provide additional rooms with WLAN, you can connect other WLAN units to the power supply.
