Adobe Flash Player: Vulnerability threatens Internet Explorer

A potentially dangerous vulnerability was discovered in Adobe Flash Player. Probably this gap was already exploited by hackers, as the virus researcher Kafeine explained. Also a new update of the player could not close the security gap.

The vulnerability serves the cybercriminals as a gateway for adware, which they play over specially prepared websites. Adware is used to bypass ad networks and create fake pageviews.

In addition, the affected computer is compromised and partly a botnet. Users who use a Windows PC in combination with Microsoft Internet Explorer are particularly vulnerable.

According to Kafeine, this group includes users of Windows XP with Internet Explorer 6 to 8, Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 8 as well as Windows 8 with IE 10 and Windows 8.1 with IE 11. Browsers such as Chrome or Firefox do not appear to be affected at this time >

Adobe has already announced the release of a patch in the coming week, which is automatically updated in the ideal case. Until then, the security expert cafeine advises to deactivate Flash Player for the time being.
