The Pentax K-S1 is one of the most eye-catching features of the Pentax K-S1. Both the matte light gray of the case and the green glowing side give a futuristic look to the SLR camera for beginners.

If you can not do anything with this look, simply turn off the green lights on the side and the buttons. But the LED sidebar is quite handy: the lights indicate whether a face has been detected, and also serve the orientation of the person photographed.
But what else is in the little sister of the Pentax K-3 (test)? The Pentax K-S1 has an APS-C-CMOS sensor with 23.5 x 15.6 mm and a resolution of 20 megapixels. The sensor sensitivity allows images up to ISO 51 200.

However, there is no low-pass filter in front of the sensor, which often leads to the unwelcome moiré effect. According to Ricoh-Imaging's site, to which Pentax belongs, the shake-reduction technique generates a low-pass filter simulation that would compensate for the missing filter.
The sharpness is guaranteed by an autofocus module, the SAFOX IXi +, and that for 5.4 frames per second. The video feature provides Full HD resolution at up to 30 fps.
Furthermore, an optical glass prism sensor with 100% image coverage is installed, which is also used in the K-3. It is equipped with an LCD screen that resolves 920,000 pixels with a 3-inch LCD surface.
This year in September, the Pentax K-S1 will be available on the American market. The futuristic camera can be bought in twelve different colors at a kit price of 700 euros. The kit comes standard with an 18-55mm lens.
