MWC 2013: Masterpass presented by Mastercard

The new digital payment service masterpass was presented by Mastercard at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. It is intended to enable consumers to pay not only with any payment card but also with a supported device such as smartphone, tablet or computer. You should be able to pay by click, not only online, but also in stores or in other places.

In shops, for example, a bar code can be scanned from the customer's smartphone for payment. The customer can bundle different accounts and cards with Masterpass. The data is stored on mastercard secure servers and is available without re-entry.

MasterPass has already been tested as PayPass Wallet service since spring 2012 with selected dealers and cards. There is now a widespread introduction of the new services. A list of financial institutions, traders and technology providers supporting the new system has also been published by Mastercard. Masterpass will be launched in Australia and Canada from the end of March and the system 2017 will be introduced in the United States.
