JVC: Home cinema projector DLA-X 900 R for 4K projection

JVC provides a whole series of new projectors. The Japanese will be launching successively starting in November from 3,000 to 10,000 euros per month. As used by JVC, the so-called D-ILA technique is responsible for the image reproduction. In this case, the light does not illuminate through the small LCD panel completely, but is reflected by a layer behind it.

At the same time, the physical resolution of the panel remained with 1,920 times 1,080 pixels (Full HD). On the other hand, the "e-shift" technology is being improved. It helps the projector to a projected UHD resolution of 3,840 by 2,160 pixels. The trick is that the panels, instead of just one image point, represent two pixels in succession at the same time, with a mirror projecting these second pixels slightly shifted onto the screen. This creates almost the visual impression of a UHD image.

The technology has already proven itself in many home cinemas. In the sixth generation, it has reworked JVC and advanced scaling of full HD images. The result is now called "e-shift3". In addition, JVC has integrated an HDMI input, which accepts UHD images directly. This prevents scaling and creates additional potential for improving image quality.

The differences between the three projectors are in the other performance values of the picture presentation. For example, the DLA-X 900 R has a native contrast ratio of 150,000: 1, the DLA-X 700R is 120,000: 1, and the DLA-X 500R is 60,000: 1. The dynamic contrast values to be achieved with the "intelligent aperture control" are 1,500,000: 1, 1,200,000: 1 and 600,000: 1. In addition, the brightness values were increased to 1,300 lumen and the light output by ten percent. Both the new polarizing metal strip grating and a 40-percent reduction in pixel spacing are the reasons for this, according to the manufacturer.

Buying advice: The best projectors
