Colorfoto.de Six A6 printers from Canon, HP, Olivetti and Sony

Six printers – three thermal printers and three inkjets – face the new ColorPhoto test. Because of the changes such as the evaluation for SW prints or the determination of the ozone resistance, the results are not directly comparable to older test results.

The system battle between thermal printers and inkjet is undecided due to the maturity of both systems. The inkjet prints in one operation and can reproduce such finer structures better. The tolerances when applying the three colors one after the other make some small texts look frayed. A sensible inkjet has no problems, even with fine gradations, while the thermos master this discipline from home. They also defy the ozone perfectly with their additional top layer, which all thermos put on the photo at the end. Which of the two methods provides the more favorable printouts depends exclusively on the price policy of the manufacturers. None of the printers tested here uses black ink and the problems with SW-prints are accordingly great. By the way, all printers can be supplied with a rechargeable battery, except Sony.
