According to the poll, more than three-quarters of the companies were attacked more than once a year. At the same time, 65 per cent of American companies use so-called DDoS attacks as a very serious problem. This can be seen in the BT study, published by the IT and network service provider Thursday.
In the case of a cyber attack most companies have taken the necessary security measures in the form of action plans. However, these often do not seem to be completely sufficient to solve the problem quickly enough.
This is the reason why cyber victims' business comes to a complete stop. This happens through attacks directly on company websites, which are no longer reachable or due to overloading of the networks and data centers. Often the attackers rely on hybrid or multi-vector tactics, where the attacks take place simultaneously across different platforms. Attacks of this type have increased by 41 percent last year
Not only the loss of valuable working time is a big problem of the attacks. The decline in customer satisfaction caused by the loss of trust also leads to sales losses. According to the survey, this could even be measured: queries and complaints increased after attacks by 36 percent.
The best chances to defend against these aggressive attacks are to awake a corresponding security awareness of the employees and the cooperation with qualified partners.
