Dragon Age: Inquisition in Test - Huge RPG with minor weaknesses

Dragon Age: Inqusition in the test: For roller-racing fans, there is currently no way to go to the industry primus Skyrim. After the sensational Dragon Age: Origins and the second part, which was rather unsuccessful for fans, Bioware would like to return to the top with Inquisition. We’ll show you whether Dragon Age: Inquisition actually returns to the roots.

Dragon Age Inquisition test: Story and scope

Above all, Dragon Age: Origins (the first part) could score with an enormously extensive and profound story. Inquisition is also able to inspire with surprise moments and memorable moments.

Dragon Age Inquisition in the test: Gameplay

The conflict between templars and magicians, which has been smoldering since the first part, forms the omnipresent basis of the story. For newcomers, however, Inquisition does not offer any help to get into the story - at least the second part should be played before the acquisition of Inquisition to understand the story of the game.

However, the main activity is a little further in the background because of another, rediscovered strength. Inquisition is probably the largest offshoot of Dragon Age and can score with many detailed sidequests.

The Cutscenes are spectacularly staged and the world of Ferelden looks fantastic. The design ranges from snowy mountains to troubled coasts to vast deserts. The Frostbite engine from Battlefield 4 shows its strengths: Inquisition can thus claim the most beautiful game of the year.

If you are not only looking at beautiful graphics, but also like to design yourself, you can have fun with character creation. An awful lot of settings allow you to make the main character as detailed as you would with any Dragon Age, and should take some time for enthusiasts.

In addition to the design possibilities, you can divide the character into four different classes. In addition to the already known variants human, elf and dwarf you can now also play a Qunari. Each of the classes is then divided into different game styles, such as two-hand warriors or mages, and can also use different background histories.

In fighting itself, in addition to his own character, support is needed, which comes in the form of up to three companions. Each helper is equipped with individual skills and his own story, which is sometimes more and sometimes less interesting. Even old acquaintances from previous parts can play a role again.

Once you've put together your best-balanced group, it's all about the one thing: the fights offer a successful mix of the systems from the first two parts. In higher degrees of difficulty, the well-known tactic mode is required, which makes it possible to store different strategies. Especially in the boss battles this is bitterly necessary, these are quite demanding.

With completed missions and defeated enemies, the player collects, as always, experience points that lead to level advancement and new skills. The menu is unfortunately somewhat confusing and the selection of skills is not very variable, but stubbornly designed for the fight.

Anyone who understands Inquisition as a continuation can also import all the decisions of the first two parts with the Dragon Age Keep. The entry is however cumbersome and real effects on the action are misrepresentation. In the dialogue system too, the final consequence, which carries a decision, is missing.
