We had the test for the professional version (DVD, also on four CDs). A standard version without dictionary and research tools and fewer entries is available for 59.95 euros. The new German- English / English-American dictionary is not very attractive. Although the Langenscheidt licensed vocabulary contains 40000 entries, the information is scarce. Further grammar hints and sample sentences are missing as well as a meaningful connection to a word processing
New is a rather inflexible diagram wizard, which creates bar and circle diagrams according to sample templates. Nice are the new tips and instructions how to research papers and housework. The new Encarta contains nearly 47,000 entries, 5500 web links, 15 hours of audio and video clips, as well as 19000 photos and pictures for clicking. Annoying is that the registration of Encarta is only possible via a Microsoft Passport. The web search takes place via MSN instead.
