ExpressVPN in the test

The company ExpressVPN, which is privately owned in the US and the British Virgin Islands, is tested by the by far the worst equipped client. After launching the ExpressVPN software, which is available for Windows and Mac, you can only select the desired VPN server and click Connect. Regularly used sites can be marked as favorites.

Test result: Conclusion

The advanced features are limited to the option to automatically connect to the most recently used server when the program starts. The simultaneous VPN usage of a computer and a mobile device is permitted, apps for Android and iOS are available in the respective stores for download.

There is hardly anything left to the performance. ExpressVPN supports all major protocols, and ExpressVPN is the only vendor to be tested for the SSTP. However, the user is advised that SSTP is supported only by a few sites.

Speaking of locations: ExpressVPN servers operate in 78 countries, 42 of them in Europe. Only HMA has more locations. Eleven US servers are facing three American sites. The provider is silent about the number of available IP addresses.

To use the service for one month, you must invest 12.95 USD. If you opt for an annual subscription, the monthly cost will drop to 8.32 USD. The anonymous payment is possible, since Express VPN accepts besides the usual variants credit card, transfer and PayPal also Bitcoins. The instructions for installation are excellent, but they are only available in English.

ExpressVPN can be found in our comparison test in the last place because the VPN software is much too poorly equipped and even dispensed with the display of server speed and utilization. It is much better to order the number of server sites.
