Powerpoint: Record and play back the screen

PowerPoint introduces a new video function to help you understand the flow of your screen. For PowerPoint 2013 you will need all the latest updates. Before you start a screen recording, you should try the steps you want to record without recording. After this “dress rehearsal”, all steps should be clear, and you can record all sequences without errors and without interruption during the subsequent recording.

The first step is to determine whether the mouse pointer is to be recorded. This is often useful, because the viewer then can see exactly what you are doing on the screen. If you want to include an explanatory text in the recording, activate the audiosymbol. With a connected microphone, you will then use explanatory texts during your recording.

Then click the Select area icon and drag the screen area you want to capture with the left mouse button. It is best to set the entire screen as a recording area. Then activate the Record icon. After a short countdown of three seconds, everything you're doing or showing on the screen is recorded.

To end the recording, press the [Windows] + [Shift] + [Q] key combination. This will stop the recording and insert it into your current slide with the player. Below the recorded recording you will find the bar for playing the recording, which starts with a click on the arrow symbol for playback.
