Pure elegance: Four design televisions in test

The devices in the test

Room atmosphere

A quartet of the very special kind meets in this test: A gigantic Panasonic TX-P65VT30E, a stylish Philips 42PFL7906K, an innovative Sony KDL-55HX925 and a brand new Toshiba 55ZL1G a rendezvous. "the United States's next Top-TV" on video-HomeVision-Art, so to speak.

Smart TV

But do not worry: the technology is still in the foreground. And the test candidates are a lot of them. All participants can enjoy several technical refinements. 3D playback is more of a feature "off the shelf" - although there are significant differences as well.

Beautiful new game world

Philips with the 42PFL7906K was the only manufacturer with polarization glasses to test. In the 8000 and 9000 series, however, the Dutch also used shutter technology.

Conclusion

The Shutter Group surprised with a new generation of partially expensive 3D glasses. Rechargeable, radio-controlled, lighter and more comfortable - that's the motto.

This means that there are two competing systems - like LCD against plasma. The choice is easy, however, if the buyer knows the importance of the 3D feature. The film fan has only to face the two systems: Shutter glasses provide the better resolution and can be used at a smaller distance from the television.

Polarization technology uses significantly less expensive glasses, which is an important criterion for (larger) families, and there is no flickering.

For all test candidates, the multimedia information platform HbbTV is integrated, except for the Panasonic TX-P65VT30E. But that can be a mess, because otherwise he brings everything that makes Heimkino hearts beat faster. So the developers have bounced about the recording function.

The devices of this series also store SD cards on film recordings. Quite incidentally: they could already at times, the SD cards still moved in the megabyte range, and the picture quality was correspondingly modest. The current version is, however, practical, as the test has shown.

At Toshiba, the new image calibration system creates a sensation. In addition, a new backlighting concept ensures brighter and, at the same time, more contrast-rich images.

Here Sony has also set the lever with the KDL-55HX925 and created with "Intelligent Peak LED" a strong opponent. In addition, Sony scores with small and fine equipment features that make the TV everyday more enjoyable. This includes, for example, the presence sensor, which sits on the large screen, even if the viewer on the sofa has already sunk into low sleep.

Real gamers will feel Philips' two-player mode as a "philosopher's stone", although strictly speaking a waste product of 3D technology: two players can simultaneously use the entire screen even though they are only sitting in front of a TV Code>

You would not want to give them up, if you enjoyed them. Toshiba and Sony, in particular, made a picture battle, which the Toshiba 55ZL1G could ultimately decide just for themselves. As a comparatively favorable 65-inch, the Panasonic also scored points.
