Samsung S27D850T: Convincing laboratory appearance


On the screen with a diagonal of 68.6 cm, Samsung has placed more pixels on the S27D850T than on conventional full-HD monitors. It is exactly 2,560 x 1,440 instead of 1,980 x 1,080 pixels. This WQHD resolution provides a sharp and detailed display on the monitor, but is still clearly below the 3.840 x 2.160 pixels of current 4K devices. However, more information can be displayed in parallel, and the Samsung S27D850T supports the simultaneous display of content from two sources ("PIP" function)


The PLS panel from Samsung's own production convinced in the lab test. The brightness of the Samsung S27D850T can be controlled in a range of 42 to 385 candela / m², the monitor has enough luminosity even in bright rooms. On request, a light sensor automatically adjusts the brightness of the monitor to the ambient light. The average color temperature is 6.676 K relatively close to the desired standard value of 6,500 K.


Conclusion


Class: Even over several brightness levels, the display of the Samsung S27D850T deviates by only 0.5 percent of the above measured value. The PLS panel is characterized by a very good color space coverage and color-stable viewing angles. The gamma curve is quite close to the desired target, thus grayscales are separated cleanly.


However, the illumination of our test device is not quite uniform. The average response time of the Samsung S27D850T of 14.4 ms is quite adequate for an office monitor.


The processing of the device is top quality and faultless. The wide foot ensures reliable stability. The adjustment by 130 mm in height provides for more ergonomics, a pivot function is also not missing.


The Samsung S27D850T has everything you need in terms of connectivity: DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, DisplayPort-Out and a 4x USB 3.0 hub are available. The average power consumption of 44 watts and a standby consumption of 0.3 watts are acceptable.
