Windows 10: The free update can be used after the end of the term
After July 29, 2017 the deadline for the free update on Windows 10 had expired. Anyone who is now trying to upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1 free of charge via conventional ways needs a dedicated license key for Microsoft's current operating system. As the website ghacks.net has discovered, however, there is a loophole, with which users can continue to come to the new Windows free of charge.
Microsoft had already announced extending the possibility for the free update to Windows 10 when users rely on input aids such as the screen magnifier or the language input and output. So far, however, there were no details on the procedure. It is unclear whether Microsoft has only a few specific input aids (auxiliary technologies) in view and how users can recognize in this regard. As ghacks.net has noticed, Microsoft has now renewed the appropriate website for users with disabilities.
There you can download an update wizard, which allows you to upgrade your existing Windows 7 or 8.1 to Windows 10 for free. As Microsoft reveals, there are no restrictions on certain input aids. The free offer can therefore be used by disabled people without further ado. There is also no time limit for the time being. However, before this deadline expires, Microsoft will make a corresponding announcement.
It is unlikely that users will be able to see this offer, which does not require any special input aids. So far, there is at least no indication that Microsoft controls the use of such aids separately.
