First and foremost, the Zoom Q4 is an audio pro, visible on the flip-up microphone capsules in XY stereo arrangement. The sound is recorded as linear PCM – with a maximum of 24 bit / 96 kHz as WAV file. According to the specifications, there is a microphone and line-in port as well as the mandatory headphone output. On the device side integrated zoom switch and control for leveling, gain and low-cut filter.
Price and availability
Videos makes the zoom Q4 in Full HD in MPEG-4 / AVC / H.264 format with up to 30 full-color images on SDXC cards. Through the lens labeling one can see that the Q4 has no zoom lens, but like the Sony HDR-MV 1 announced to the IFA more oriented to the action cams.
