If you are always online via the same VPN server, you do not need to use the software provided by the provider. We'll show you how to set up the VPN connection manually under Windows.

1. Click Start, select Control Panel, and open the Network and Sharing Center. In the Change network settings area, click Set up new connection or new network

2. In the following dialog box, select Connect to the workstation and confirm with Next. Then, select the No, Create new connection option, and then click Next again.

3. In the last step of the setup wizard, click the Use the Internet connection (VPN) option. In the Open Connection dialog box, tap Internet Address for the IP address of the desired VPN server, such as is1.vpn.goldenfrog.com. This information is provided by your VPN provider. You can type any name in the destination name. Select the Do not connect now option, set it up for later use, and click Next.

4. Enter the credentials provided by your VPN provider, select Save this password, exit with Create, and close the following dialog.

5. Click the network icon in the systray and select the VPN connection you just configured by clicking Connect. Confirm the following dialog with Connect to establish the VPN connection. To check the functionality, call the web site wie-ist-meine-ip.de. If the IP address of the VPN server is displayed, everything has worked out.
