Football live on TV: Sky secures rights to Champions League

For the football season 2017/16 to 2017/18, a large part of the UEFA Champions League Live will only be seen on Sky TV. The subscription channel has, according to its own data, secured the corresponding transmission rights.


Including the UEFA Super Cup, 146 matches from the play-offs to the final live, 128 of them exclusive. According to press release, the rights are valid for all transmission routes. This allows customers to watch the games via TV, on the web, via iPhone or iPad or via the Xbox360. It is estimated that the cost of TV rights is 48 million euros per season. ZDF also originally offered a limited number of games.
