The Heco Metas XT

“Wollfaser / Kraftpapier” is not a quotation from a manual for detergents. Instead, it’s Heco’s secret weapon for clean mid-range playback.

Cleanman

The latest Metas-XT series replaced the Metas series last year. XT is called "eXtended Technology" and means, among other things, an optimized membrane material in the tweeter: it consists of a polyester fabric impregnated in permanently elastic soft foam. Both series also have a membrane material derived from the Celan series and further improved in the current XT series.

Trendy walnut

The developers from Pulheim near Cologne use their so-called "Wollfaser / Kraftpapier" as a membrane material in the low / mid-range loudspeaker. It has features such as low weight and high internal damping, which is designed to reduce noise and high dynamics.

Warm sound with freshness

Further differences: While the Metas-Boxes still came with all-round laminated housings, the fronts of the XT-Set are color-coded and highly glossy. We combined the XT 501, XT Center 31 and XT 301 stand-alone speakers as rear speakers with the XT Sub 251 A subwoofer.

The elegant high-gloss front with the brushed aluminum baskets and the housings - alternatively also with trendy walnut foil - all this can really be seen.

Optimal receiver settings

The subwoofer is equipped with a 21-centimeter-sized chassis like Canton's bass-box. Thus, the two are among the smaller bass drivers in the test. And with a box width of 23 centimeters, a height of one meter and a 17-depth or Low-mid / mid-range speakers, the Heco loudspeakers are a compliment to the sturdy floor boxes.

The two 17-drive drivers are common in the bass, while only one can swing into the mid-range. The fabric cap is used for this.

Practically functional: The high dose can be raised by two decibels at all terminals in the set if required at the connection terminal. This light high-frequency syringe gives the desired warm character of the set the desired freshness.

In the neutral position, Allan Taylor's "Live in Belgium" sounded perfectly balanced, the voice had openness without being overpriced, and the chest sound did not sound grumpy. His acoustic guitar also had the necessary "body". Admittedly, this is a very good multi-channel recording of Stockfish Records.

Because of the neutral, distortion-free and non-superficial, superficial playback, you can turn the level control on the AV receiver even with action strips, without any annoying or aggressive sounds. A side effect: You can hear more details that have gone down in the sound, and action movies have more punch than usual. A great loudspeaker set.
