Office 365: Now free for students, teachers and students

Microsoft Office 365 is free for students, teachers and students, who are now looking forward to free access to Word, Excel and Powerpoint. The worldwide offering of Microsoft is valid for the United States, Austria, Switzerland and all other countries where Office 365 is available. Office 365 includes the Office programs for the PC and Mac, the apps for iOS, Android and Windows Phone as well as the Office Online offer. The programs and apps can be installed on up to five devices at a time. In addition, there is free 1 TB of storage space at OneDrive for Business.

To get Office 365 free, students, teachers, and students need to meet different requirements. As with previous free-of-charge actions from Microsoft, schools and universities must apply for an Office license through the Volume Licensing Program. After this, the educational institution is considered to be entitled and students, teachers and students can register for the free office. In addition to the legal minimum age for an online registration (13 years), students and students need their own e-mail address from their school or university, which can be used to receive external e-mails. The free Office license will then be valid until the end of the course or the student is logged out.

Whether your school, university, or other educational institution already has a volume license, and you are eligible for the free office, you can check out the Office 365 offer for students, students, and teachers through a special Microsoft website. Schools and universities can also find information there.

If your own educational institution has not purchased a license from Microsoft, there is no way to use the Microsoft offer. The free alternatives to Microsoft Office 365 include LibreOffice (Download), OpenOffice (Download) or Google Drive.
