Part 5: Satellite DSL provider: Internet from space

For about four years now, the Luxembourg operator Europe Online has been offering its satellite broadband Internet service to private customers all over Europe. The company uses satellite Astra 19.2 ° East 1 H and Eutelsat W3 7 ° East for its service. Depending on the package speeds of up to two MBit are possible. Since EuropeOnline is a push service, you can order movies and / or music via modem / ISDN, which will be sent in offline mode at a later date. This is done in a Europe Online portal, which has a large download archive.

However, if you do not find the right data, you can use a tool (File Fetch) to mark data and links. These data are then loaded by Europe Online to their own server and sent to the user at two MBit / s. Another feature is Fastsurf, which allows surfing to 768 kbit speed. However, you can only have one GByte traffic, which can be increased for an extra charge. The installation of Europe Online is somewhat more difficult than the other test candidates because you have to register the DVB card and enter the proxy server settings manually.
