The new console generation with PS4 and Xbox One disappointed you? The devices of Sony and Microsoft have compared with the predecessors significantly better hardware. But the number of true must-have exclusive titles, for which many gamers choose one of the consoles, leaves a lot to be desired.
What about exclusive titles?
We take a look at the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360. These classics offer a complete game library, which will guarantee you over the cold season and long beyond. Why should you buy a PS3 or an Xbox 360 right now? Quite simply: the price and follow-up costs. The end of the life span of a game console is a very good time to get in: A new Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 is available from 100 euros. This is less than half the cost of current consoles. And games are also available at a fraction of the budget a new Call of Duty, a new FIFA and more would be consumed.
The best Xbox 360 Exclusives
For the sake of clarity we look at prices of the popular PS3 titles of the Uncharted trilogy. These are often only needed. We orient ourselves to market prices on Amazon (volume), Ebay and Co. There you will always find something. In the PS4, but also in the Xbox One, games can start from 70 euros. Used, depending on the age and condition of the title, you will only be able to see prices as follows for PS3 titles after many months.
The best PS3 Exclusives
The largest factor in the console price is the storage capacity, (for PS3 there are 12 to 500 GB and for Xbox 360 it is 4 to 500 GB). You should pay particular attention to this if you also want to use the online offer from Sony or Microsoft, as well as hardware peripherals such as additional wireless controllers, cameras or karaoke microphones. Often you can also buy a bundle game that you would have bought anyway. This can save a lot when you find the console bundle that is right for you.
The Playstation 3 currently still has a stand-alone feature for online players. Both Sony and Microsoft offer Playstation Plus (50 Euro / year) and Xbox Live Gold (60 Euro / year), with free games, discounts on downloadable games and access to multiplayer modes. Sony, on the other hand, has a multiplayer content from the outset, free of charge for the Playstation 3. So as long as the Sony servers are running, you can gamble your favorite games with friends or strangers.
For the Xbox 360, consider completing the Xbox Live Gold subscription for multiplayer modes thoroughly. Even if the servers are still running, it may well be that these are underpopulated and therefore you have to wait a long time for a match. We would rather recommend a trial subscription (if offered) or Xbox Live Gold for a month for around 10 Euros so you can see what you are expecting.
However, those who do without the online mode are hardly limited in their possibilities. There are now tons of games for the old console generation. The overwhelming majority is available for both platforms and almost always for the PC. The biggest purchase argument therefore are the games exclusively available for PS3 and XB360:
Such titles are only available for the respective console or platform. If you choose the PS3 instead of the Xbox 360, you will most likely never be able to use corresponding games for the Microsoft console. This is also true of course. Both consoles have already reached a remarkable number since the market launch more than ten years ago.
What games are right for you is, as always, taste. Make an impression with the help of promo material on the official websites, as well as gameplay videos on Youtube and decide accordingly.
It is, however, not to be dismissed that the Xbox 360 has produced less notable game classics than the Playstation 3. Three of them are now also available for the PC.
The console oldies still have it. Not for nothing have the Sony Playstation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360 survived ten years. And with the currently low price for hardware and games, you can hit on both devices confidently. But if it is only a console, our recommendation falls short of the Playstation 3. They play free of charge on the Internet without an extra cost through an Xbox Live Gold subscription and can play with the PS3 also bluray discs instead of only DVDs with the Xbox 360. But above all it is the selection of the exclusive games, which is clearly more pronounced at Sony and our taste better.
