Google Glass is to control household appliances

The smart home movement is still in the children’s shoes in the United States, as Google is already planning the next revolutionary step. In the US, the search engine group has filed a new patent. This provides for the use of Google Glass for home appliances.

The devices can send current information about their status to Google Glass. The glasses then display various control options. A speech control or virtual controls could be used for the operation. Google Glass should be able to connect to the devices via Bluetooth, infrared, RFID or QR codes. The prerequisite is that the devices are equipped accordingly.

An application example is the control of a refrigerator. You could, for example, check the content of the refrigerator on the Internet via Google Glass. The glasses start a search for suitable recipes or gives a hint which foods are to buy. The application possibilities are almost unlimited.

If you want to read the patent as a whole, you can find it on the website of the US Patent Office.
