Online banking everywhere – how it works!
Conclusion - The software decides
Anyone managing their banking transactions electronically via homebanking benefits from more favorable account fees, can also manage their bank transactions from the couch or easily analyze the finances. Anyone who picks the raisins out of the giro, daily or fixed money account is inevitably with more than one bank customer. If you want to keep track of cash issues, there is often no way around homebanking.
It is complicated if you want to do banking business flexibly, that is on the road at the tablet and at home on the PC. Then the data were usually duplicated or cumbersome to export. But that has changed. Some vendors now support multi-platform banking: StarMoney and Finanzblick rely on the cloud.
The bank data for the various accounts are retrieved and provided via the cloud. So you should have no problem with storing sensitive information on the vendors' servers. With StarMoney, users have the freedom to choose between Windows and Mac computers, web browsers and mobile devices on iOS, Android, or Windows Mobile.
Lesetipp: More security in online banking
Central functions such as sales, payment, cash management or simple evaluations are also available for mobile use. In our Praxistest, linking to the StarMoney cloud was a bit cumbersome, but the accounts were synchronized reliably. There are restrictions, however, for the security features: The secure HBCI banking via smart card is not supported by any app.
This also applies to the competitor financial view, a classic cloud solution. Native clients are available for Android, iOS, Mac, Windows Phone and the tile interface under Windows 8. On all other systems you have to make do with the web browser. While StarMoney stores financial data offline, financial view is a pure online solution: no internet, no banking. On the other hand, synchronization problems are excluded. Financial view is convincing with a multi-level graphic preparation of payment flows. In addition to bank accounts and deposits, customer cards can also be managed. Unlike StarMoney, Finanzblick is free. In both applications, photographed documents can be assigned, but without a document-oriented scanning function. This leads to relatively large image files, which in the case of StarMoney burden the limited cloud memory.
The third in the league is "Banking 4 from Subsembly, a lean application that focuses on payment traffic, reporting is clear, but not enough, documents are not managed, and Banking 4 works exclusively with native clients that work offline >
The data file is moved encrypted between the devices via cloud storage such as Dropbox or Google Drive. The use of the web browser is omitted. In the practice test the procedure worked without problems. Banking 4 runs on Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, Android, Kindle-Fire and Blackberry.
And the others? To the Windows program WISO My money belongs to a small app, with which cash expenses can be classified on the way - although with limited comfort, since gaps are missing. The data is automatically transferred to the main program.
However, no additional clients are planned as well as the Lexware Financial Manager. The Freiburg software house temporarily had a mobile client in the program, but this was deleted because of high development costs. The Matrica moneyplex banking software is available for Windows, Mac and Linux. Similar to Banking 4, the database can also be used across platforms across platforms. On request the manufacturer promised mobile clients for tablets and smartphones without naming a specific date.
Bank transfers on the notebook, bar issues on the smartphone and at the tablet inform about the current financial situation - banking on several platforms is not a problem, but just a question of the right software
The most comprehensive but also the most expensive solution comes from StarMoney. Users benefit from cloud synchronization and offline operation, but must live with the subscription model. Subsembly Banking is a classic purchase program and can be run on multiple platforms via cloud storage. Financial view is astonishingly free, but only works in online mode. In addition, a Windows 10 client is still missing. On the manufacturers side, the high safety level is swept away. Whether this is enough, everyone has to answer for themselves.
