Fujifilm has created a simple yet special design for the Finepix Z70: the rounded corners, the iridescent Z-logo in all possible colors, the blue illuminated symbols of the back buttons and the discreetly asymmetrically decorated lens slider, the inside 5-fold -Zoom (36 to 180 mm KB equivalent) and slides down when the camera is turned on – all this contributes to the appearance of the Finepix Z70.
Like the colors: in black or silver it looks elegantly elegant, in violet, bronze, red or blue youthful and strikingly chic. For around 150 euros (recommended retail price), the Finepix Z70 brings a 12-megapixel sensor and an HD video function. As usual in this price and camera class, there are neither manual modes nor a flash light correction. The menu is clear, the Finepix Z70 can be operated intuitively. The keys have a pleasant pressure point and can be easily recognized even in the dark thanks to backlighting. The button for opening the menu also serves to confirm the entries. It is located below the 4-way switch, which allows you to navigate through the menu, to access exposure compensation, macro and flash mode.
If you want to put your pictures and films on the Internet, you can mark the corresponding recordings and upload them directly on YouTube or Facebook using the included software. The autofocus with us in the darkened room seldom found the right sharpness. The trip delay at 3000 lux averaged an average of 0.6 s.
Image quality: The Fujifilm Finepix Z70 is 990 to 1253 LP / BH (ISO 100) in the wide angle, the values decrease to 888 to 1030 LP / BH in the telephoto, with higher sensitivity to 704 to 1122 LP / BH. The visual noise remains in the green range (1.4 and 2.0 V ISO 100/400). On the other hand, the kurtosis values indicate a not insignificant loss of texture (kurtosis 1.3 / 2.1 at ISO 100/400). In the wide angle, a pronounced edge shading (1.0 aperture) and a barrel-shaped distortion by 1.9 per cent are added. In addition, the pictures look a bit colorless and fuzzy. Conclusion: Formschöne, cheap party camera. The price-performance ratio fits, although the autofocus is not always accurate.
