Already in early November, the Flash option was available on Amazon Instant Video, but was deactivated after a short time. Now, as an alternative to Microsoft’s Silverlight, you can also use Adobe Flash to play Amazon Instant Video (Test) movies in the browser. To do this, you must select the Flash Player in the playback settings. This preference is stored in your own Amazon account and applied to all browsers that are registered with this account at Amazon.
Amazon also recommends using Silverlight. With this plug-in, HD titles should have lower buffer times. Apart from this, for most users viewing movies in the browser, it is likely to be a matter of personal preference, which plug-in they ultimately use.

If you use a Chromecast, you have the possibility to stream movies from Amazon Instant Video via the Google-Stick to the TV. This has not been possible, since there is no instant video app for the Chromecast. You can use the Chrome browser to transfer almost all web content to the Chromecast with the extension "Google Cast". However, this does not work if a Web page uses plug-ins such as Silverlight or QuickTime. With the Flash option, this hurdle can now be avoided at Amazon Instant Video.
