Windows 10: Start menu in the Windows 7 look announced

Windows 10 has returned to a start menu, but the design might not make all users happy. Users who want to continue to work with the familiar interface of Windows 7 will get a start-up tool, Start10, which is based on the predecessor of Windows 8. This is reported by the responsible company Stardock, which has already made many users happy with Start8 – a start menu tool for Windows 8.

More about Windows 10

A release - and thus the download - of Start10 has not yet taken place. At the moment, the tool is in the beta phase. If you would like to try the test version, you have to register with the manufacturer Stardock for the so-called "Object Desktop" program. There are other tools for Windows. However, there are costs of about $ 10 in the first month and $ 3.99 in the following, so this should only be something for especially large fans of Windows 7.

Stardock calls the following features for Start10. You replace the new with the tool in Windows 10 with a classic Start menu with advanced features. You can, among other things, design the start button freely according to your wishes. Of course you can also use the Start menu just like in Windows 7: You can search for apps, settings or files. The first is for both desktop and modern UI apps. Only the current Windows 10 build 9926 is mentioned as a system requirement.

Since October 1, 2017, Windows 10 is available for download as a technical preview. Users can use it to test for the first time in the next Windows, test features, report problems, and then send feedback to the development department of Microsoft. The system can be tested by 15 April 2017. In our FAQ about the Windows 10 Technical Preview, we answer questions about the system requirements of the beta version, give tips on downloading, installing, and more.
