Peter Klein, CFO, will leave Microsoft at the end of June 2013 after eleven years of company membership. As a CFO, he worked for three and a half years. The message comes along with the current business figures of the Windows 8 developer. For example, from January to March 2013, Microsoft increased its sales from 15.7 to 20.5 billion euros, while the profit rose from around 5.1 to 6.1 billion US dollars. This corresponds to growth of 18% and 19%, respectively.
Microsoft even surpassed the expectations of the analysts, the share rose accordingly by two percent. Good work for a financialchef could be thought of, but Microsoft nevertheless decided to fill the position of Peter Klein again. A successor is to be determined and announced "from the own ranks". Microsoft is currently facing the entire IT industry with shrinking sales in the PC market.
Several sites gave Windows 8 the fault of the breaking sales figures. In the first quarter of 2013, according to market researcher IDC, there was an almost 14 percent decline in the sales of desktop and notebook computers, the largest ever since the beginning of the measurement in 1994. The sales figures of Windows 8 were positive. 75 days after the release of Windows 8, over 60 million licenses were sold.
In addition, there is the strong company business, in which the Office software in particular well. Also the Xbox games division wrote black numbers. The Microsoft profit is, however, narrowed by high marketing expenses for Windows 8 as well as a penalty of the EU, as Reuters the United States writes. The European Commission imposed a penalty on market abuse for Microsoft. The reason: The Redmonder should have given the user the possibility to use browsers other than Internet Explorer.
