The Actioncam Camsports Evo 1080 Pro has a diameter of 2.4 cm, is 8.4 cm long, weighs 60 grams and is operated with only one button on the housing top. Turning on the camera immediately starts the recording and a vibration alarm gives feedback that the camera is running. So you do not have to look at the camera and the flashing power button, but you can also use it when you’re attached to the helmet, for example.
A laser pointer also helps with the alignment of the camera - because the only lighter-sized Actioncam does not necessarily have a display and does not offer the now often represented WLAN communication with an app. Using the computer, you can also switch off the laser pointer and set the date and time. Rather unusual: you can also adjust the white balance - which is rather impractical on the way.
The manufacturer gives the angle of view at 135 degrees and promises little distortion. The protective lens for the lens is interchangeable. The H.264 videos are recorded with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and 30 full-color images or with 1,280 x 720 with 60 full-color images. The switching between the two modes is done by means of a switch which is located under a cover cap. Here you can also find the slot for the Micro SD card, with a 4GB card included. Also the USB interface is under the cover cap, which should be waterproof up to 10 meters. Alternatively, there is a cap with a hole, so you get a better sound, but you must not get into the water.
Comparison test: Six OutdoCameras
Camsports has its own mounting system, in which the clip completely covers the cam and is pushed onto the different adapter plates. There is a flat and curved adapter plate with 3M adhesive pads. A universal plate with 1/4-inch tripod thread ensures compatibility with the usual standard tripod holders. Optionally there should be an extended Akkupack and with the Camsports WiFi BatteryPack one can load the EVO HD Pro and at the same time transfer the captured videos to the smartphone. The Camsports Evo 1080 Pro is sold at a price of 199 euros (RRP).
