As already speculated, Amazon with Fire TV now actually brings a set-top box on the market. In contrast to the competition products Apple TV and Google Chromecast, you can use Amazon Fire TV not only for streaming. Even games run on the mini console.
Amazon Fire TV has a quad-core processor and 2 GB of RAM. This is to provide the box the three-fold performance of the competition devices. The operating system is based on Android and HTML. Fire TV is controlled via a Bluetooth remote control. A microphone in the remote control also allows voice control.
A number of applications are already preinstalled to start the set-top box in the USA. In addition to Amazon Instant Video, there are collaborations with Hulu, ESPN, Showtime, MLB, Disney, YouTube and Netflix.

With the new ASAP function, movies, for example from Amazon Instant Video, should be pre-loaded before the selection in the background, and then start particularly fast. For the gaming function of the box, Amazon collaborates with developers of mobile games, including Sega, EA and Disney. Amazon also develops its own games in the in-house Games Studios.
