Cyberlink PowerDVD 13 handles slideshows with RAW images

In the new version 13, PowerDirector supports approximately 50 RAW formats, with the technical basis for this from CyberLinks PhotoDirector 4. Onboard are all common RAW formats of the DSLRs of Canon, Nikon and Sony.


New in all versions of PowerDVD 13 is that the software player can now be operated on the computer via remote app from the smartphone. Via PowerDVD, PowerDVD makes it possible to access photo, video and audio content via the app. The PowerDVD mobile app allows you to watch movies from the smartphone or tablet over the network, or even to view unconverted RAW images. What is exciting is that the popular MKV video files can be reproduced from mobile devices - even including subtitles.


The App offers Cyberlink free of charge in the 100 Euro Ultra version and not only for iOS and Android, but also for Windows 8. If the 70 Euro cheaper PowerDVD-Pro version or the 40 Euro expensive PowerDVD-Deluxe- Version that does not need Blu-ray playback paid for the app 18 euros - for Windows 8 it is somewhat cheaper with 12.50 euros.

The developers also worked at the startup speed of PowerDVD so that the software actually responded faster during the presentation in the editorial team and took photos, videos and music very quickly. For the playback of music, Cyberlink has now integrated a mini-player so that you can see only the small controls during playback. The algorithms have been revised for video playback. In this way, the picture quality on the computer should now reach the level of Blu-ray and DVD players on the TV.


Interesting for filmmakers: In the Pro and Ultra version, Cyberlink has now integrated the AVCHD 2.0 format so that PowerDVD can now also play videos with 50p. However, the 3D version only controls the Pro version. More important for filmfreaks is the improved library, which now automatically loads the title cover. In addition, you can now display two subtitles - for example English subtitles to the English film and the American translation. For both subtitles to be included in the picture, you can set the subtitles in font size and position.
