If you spend more than 650 Euros on a pair of shelves, you’ll want to get something to choose from: not just an appealing finish, but a sophisticated technique for a good sound.
Technology that inspires
The Danish box manufacturer Dynaudio and the ELAC loudspeaker forges are sound studios, and they are well known for innovative chassis developments. Dynaudio has always built flat cone chassis for the low / midrange range, which is characterized by the fact that the diaphragm, including the dust cover, is formed in one piece, the coil with 75 millimeters diameter is extremely large and the magnet rather small >

+ Tonal neutral and pleasant style of play + spatially sprawling picture + good, right-hand representation + decent depth
Overall rating: good 62%
Price / performance: superior
The sum of these design details means that the diaphragm vibrates in a controlled manner and the chassis is not only highly resistant to electrical loads.
A Dynaudio is also the tweezer. Their diameter is 28 millimeters larger than most of the competition products, which gives them a little more "air" - that is, loadability at the lower end of the transmission. Also in the DM 2/7 these chassis are installed, although the DM series is just the beginner class.
The minimal smaller, but 150 Euro more expensive competition product from Kiel is not stingy with innovative details. "JET" is the name for a sound transducer that looks different and works differently than normal tweeters. The membrane here is meandered - or more vividly, like a concertina.
When the wrinkles are compressed, the air is squeezed in between, producing sound. Advantage over conventional membranes: Although the thin film "stretched" has a multiple membrane surface, the effective radiating surface is small, which in turn means high efficiency with low directivity.
In its third revision of the JET III the transmission bandwidth could be significantly increased. A concavely shaped aluminum diaphragm, on the other hand, provides extreme stability in the low / mid-range range and, thanks to dampened sandwich technology and bead, for low partial resonances.
From the laboratory
If you prefer a close-to-the-wall installation, you can dose the low-frequency component with the second-hand bass reflex plug. The tweeter also allows a slight level adjustment to modern, rather salvaged living spaces with an open-pore foam ring.

+ Reminds of good studios + good center picture + clean bass and treble reproduction + good signal strength
Overall rating: good 62%
Freely placed in our reference listening room, the Kiel boxes without ring and plugs played just right. The boxes from the north proved to be a sound transducer with "monitor characteristics". That is, you do not cover up anything, but show the listener bluntly what is in the recording.
Not that they sound harsh or overanalytic. On the contrary: in the heights, they are rather distinguished. It is more the presence in the upper mids, coupled with a contoured bass that gives it the character.
On the other hand, the Danish comrade-in-arms is a little more reserved. Although Dynaudios can not be said to be bass and treble, it lends instruments a luster of fullness. The spatial representation is somewhat more extensive and plastic than the ELAC set, which, in turn, accurately maps the events between the boxes.
Whether detailed or flattering: the differences are less qualitative, but really taste.
Although the transfer functions of the two subjects look very similar, they reveal differences at second glance. Dynaudios DM 2/7 shows a bit more level in the bass, which also showed in the listening test. ELAC's JET tweeter can even reproduce frequencies around 50 kilohertz without loss of level - bats will thank. Otherwise, only slight irregularities in both are seen in the frequency response.
