Leica M-P: Revised measuring camera with sapphire glass

Leica, the M-P has twice as much memory compared to its predecessor: 2 GB are available. This is to allow a long release time, no matter how many images you shoot in series (3 images / second). The RAW photos of the camera are about 48 MB in size and should be enough space in the working memory.

Price and availability

The Leica M-P resolves with 24 megapixels and covers a sensitivity range from ISO 200 to ISO 6,400. Images are stored on SD cards. You can see the snapped motifs on a 3 inch TFT display with 920,000 pixels. This is now protected from scratches by sapphire glass.

A further change compared to the predecessor Leica M (test) is also the image field selector. The image effect of six different focal lengths of objectives can thus be simulated. This is necessary in field cameras, because the photographer does not look through the viewfinder in the lens, but only through the viewfinder. The image field selector allows the simulation of the focal length pairs 28 and 90 mm, 35 and 135 mm or 50 and 75 mm

Also new at the Edelschmiede from Wetzlar: The Leica M-P does not get a red point on the case. This is to avoid that the camera is immediately recognized as very expensive and the photographer can follow his work undisturbed.

The dimensions of the case without the lens are 139 x 42 x 80 mm with a weight of about 680 grams. The Leica M-P is parallel to the Leica M in both black and classic silver for 6.700 euros.
