Windows 9: Release Date in April 2017 - Details on the Build 2017?

There is news about the Windows 9 release date: Microsoft could replace Windows 8.1, which so far did not meet the group’s sales expectations, by its successor in April 2017. This is the result of a blog entry of Microsoft insider Paul Thurrott. So far, it was assumed that the Windows 9 release, known under the code name “Threshold”, should appear as another update to Windows 8.1.

The Microsoft Conference Build 2017, which will be held in San Francisco from April 2 to 4, 2017, will, according to Thurrott, be the place where the release schedule for Windows 9 is officially announced. However, developers are not expected to be distributed at this conference. According to speculation, this could happen mid-year. In the second half of 2017, the preview of Windows 9 could be published.

The new system is expected to undergo a major overhaul of the metro interface, which is now called "Modern UI". In the new system, the current operating concepts are to be supported equally, voice, touch and mouse operation. The concepts for this are already available: The Xbox One knows the language control, and the tablets and smartphones respond to touch gestures. New would be the equal rights integration into a desktop interface. The core of Windows 9 should then be the same on all devices.
