GeForceFX 5600XT sounds like a fast chip, but in contrast to ATI based graphics cards where XT is a higher clocked chip, nVidia is a slower version. Thus the MSI card is clocked with only 235 MHz in the core and only with 200 MHz in the memory.
This measure results in a performance score that is partially lower than that of the ultra-clocked Ultra versions of the 5200 chip. With the 256 MB DDR-RAM, however, the card could score in memory-intensive games of the coming year. Whether and how much the crowd does, however, can not be said exactly yet. The eight RAM modules are all mounted on the front and do not need cooling because of their low clock speed. On the positive side, the 5600XT does not require any additional power supply, like the actually smaller 5200 Ultra variants. MSI is not exactly the right choice: two adapters are included in the package, which convert the output signal from DVI to VGA and from S-Video to Composite. Customers are now more comfortable with the FX5200 Ultra from MSI. There is a 20-euro-less, a heavier package with a total of three top games and even more power.
Overall rating: 55 points Price / performance: satisfactory Price: about 140 Euro
