A few last kilometers until the day is finished. Pulsating beats drive the runners over the last meters, preventing him from running out of breath. Video lets nine models of different manufacturers compete for 100 euros to compete. Which has the nose in front?
Sport or Outdoor
While eight models clearly appeal to the sports fan, with wireless construction, water- or sweat-repellent material, firm hold and spring-weighted weight, the RHA earphones do not appeal to athletes as much as to the mobile music listeners. We have asked the model for comparison in the test field.
Plastic or cardboard
What the manufacturers do not do to pack the small receivers sales-promoting. Everything, so that we, dear reader, access the shelf. Not only is the environment often left behind. The freshly baked owner has to fight through the packaging material to the actual earphone.
Radio or cable
Five earphones in the field are wireless. They connect via Bluetooth radio with an MP3 player or smartphone. No cable disturbs the runner. For this, of course, the battery of the models must first charge, which always succeeded with the enclosed USB cable. The duration of the Bluetooth devices is at least five hours, as with the Jabra Sportspace Wireless. The Bluetooth models must first be paired with the player. Pressing and holding the "On" button takes you to pairing mode. Then they are ready to connect to the player.
Call by phone
Four models, the Audio Technica, the RHA, the Sennheiser and the iTeufel can be connected to the player via the audio cable.
Eight earphones also function as headsets. They are therefore equipped with a microphone and also have a control which allows the volume and other functions of the phone to be controlled, how to accept and end a call. The Audio Technica ATH-Sport3 is the only one to listen to.
Six earphones in this comparison field are in-ear models. With the appropriate earplugs, they complete the auditory canal completely. This closed principle ensures a powerful bass reproduction. But the closed In Ears does not like everyone. Some carriers complain about a pressure jam in the ears. In addition, closed earphones reduce ambient noise noticeably and can therefore be enjoyed only with extreme caution in road traffic. Good reasons therefore for the open colleagues, which often provide a better space, but usually sound a bit thinner. In the field were the earphones from Philips, Plantronics and Sennheiser open ear button models.
Ear hooks provide an absolutely secure hold on four models. Although the hinges are flexible and can be bent right, this is not for everyone. For spectacle wearers the ear hanger are certainly not recommendable. The Philips SHQ7900CL comes with several rubberized attachments on the ear buttons. Here, the wearer can choose ear-bracelets or small auricle fins.
Two models came with ear and neck braces: these were the Plantronics Backbeat FIT and the Sennheiser PMX 686 Sports.
Sure, running is sweaty. This should be a listener and can even be cleaned afterwards. Almost all manufacturers provide so-called IP certifications according to which their listeners can withstand various water or dust loads. Only with RHA, which is not a sports earphone, and iTeufel could not find this information. Teufel points out, however, that the earplugs can be cleaned in the enclosed tube. The headphones in the single test are shown in the following gallery.
With a firm grip and a light, robust design, these handseters are favorites. Added splashing and often also welding protection. In terms of sound, none of the models was completely perfect, but almost all earphones were at least appealing to entertain.
