On Google I / O 2017, Android TV was introduced, a versatile entertainment platform based on Google’s Android operating system. A variation of set-top boxes and TV sets with preinstalled AndroidTV from partner companies such as Sony and Sharp is to be available in the premium segment from 2017.
Developers already have access to a number of test models to help launch Android TV solutions. The free Mediacenter Kodi, formerly known as XBMC, will soon be available after Android TV's official release.

Android TV, due to the operating system, will probably bring a whole series of smart product solutions to the forefront. You can certainly count on the Mediacenter Kodi, which can be used to stream videos, music, pictures and other media files on the TV.
The cyanogen-mod developer Keyan Mobli has already made some necessary changes to the Kodi source code. With success, on its Google+ page, the developer reports: "It works ... pretty flawless."
The Mediacenter interface and Full HD video playback do not seem to pose any problems.
