The reason for this is the cooperation with film director Spike Lee, who wants to transform the first year of his own career into a thrilling film called "Livin 'Da Dream" - and failed.

In Lee's story, the player named "Freq" - the name can only be changed after the first season - at a basketball high school of his choice, which leads him to a college and ultimately to the NBA-Draft. In the meantime, there are several mobs that the player can not watch.
Indeed, Lees Story does not give the player any chance to intervene in Freq's decisions, even if the choice of the virtual ego could be less absurd. And even if you could: after the ending of the story is hardly spoken of the turbulent events in the story .. That almost all main and secondary characters in "Livin 'Da Dream" could not be more unsympatischer and stereotypical, the once so Excellent MyCareer mode completely rotten.
After all, the story is over after the first game time and the player gets the usual MyCareer experience. New are "off-day activities," events that the character can complete between the games to receive bonuses on attributes or virtual fans.
Graphically, NBA 2K16 takes another step forward. The superstars of the NBA were excellently captured with all their facial features. A real highlight, however, is the presentation of the individual game elements, which, in addition to half-time analysis, also includes a pre-game show.
The soundtrack, selected by producer veterans DJ Mustard, DJ Khaled and DJ Premier, offers an excellent mix for the ears. In contrast to the past years, where the selected pieces of music have become rather monotonous and quickly boring, the wide and varied selection in NBA 2k16 can convince.
Not a hit, but still a good game: Instead of relying on their own strengths, 2k Games tried something new with the Spike-Lee cooperation.
This led to the only really great weakness in NBA 2K16, which is otherwise convincing thanks to great game mechanics and outstanding presentation.
