USB memory sticks are in. No wonder: They are small, handy, store a lot of data depending on the model and are easy to handle. We had the mini USB drive from Iomega in the test lab. With a capacity of 256 MB, it is currently the flagship of the manufacturer. The stick weighs 19 grams and with its outer dimensions of 7.3×2.1×1.3 cm is not a tiny one of his guild. It makes a very robust impression, works well and is provided with a key ring. The stick operates according to the USB1.1 standard and reaches an excellent reading speed of 1064.3 KByte / s. The write speed of 987.4 KB / s is as impressive as the access time of 2 ms. This makes the Iomega Mini USB Drive one of the fastest USB1.1 sticks. A special feature of the stick is the Active Disc technology developed by Iomega. It allows to start various programs directly from the USB stick, without having to install the corresponding program on the computer beforehand. This is especially useful when the user is denied installing programs because of missing administrative rights. A number of Active Disc programs are available for download on the Iomega homepage.
