Like its predecessor 1 V2, the new Nikon 1 V3 is also aimed at newcomers from the compact camera camp and advanced photographers who are looking for a system camera as a compact second camera. For example, the Nikon 1 V3 weighs about 324 g and is 65.0 x 110.9 x 33.2 mm in size. In the design, the new mirrorless system is similar to the sister models and has a less pronounced handle.
Price and availability
As the most important innovation of the 1 V3, Nikon launches the new hybrid AF system, which can access 171 focus measurement fields (including 105 with phase detection). The predecessor 1 V2, which was released in 2012, still had 135 measuring fields. In cooperation with the 18.4-megapixel CMOS sensor and the revised Expeed 4A image processing engine, 20 images per second should be possible with a continuous autofocus enabled.

Without AF tracking, the serial image speed should increase to 40 frames per second in RAW format or 60 frames per second in JPEG format. This would leave the Nikon 1 V3 behind the Sony A6000, which is only released in February, which on the data sheet to 11 frames per second with AF tracking creates - but also with a higher 24-megapixel resolution
Nikon 1 V3: Specifications
In the field of sensor technology, Nikon - like last time with the entry-level DSLR Nikon D3300 - leaves the low-pass filter away. The ISO sensitivity range of the Nikon 1 V3 ranges from ISO 160 to ISO 12,800. The Nikon 1 V2 was still at ISO 6.400. The exposure time is 1 / 4,000 to 30 seconds.

In addition to the changes in the interior, Nikon has also screwed neatly on the case compared to the 1 V2: the electronic viewfinder of the previous model is missing in the Nikon 1 V3. The 3-inch LCD touch screen with a resolution of 1,037,000 pixels can now be rotated and tilted for the first time with a system camera of the Nikon 1 series.
If you do not want to do without a viewfinder, the DF-N1000 can add a removable, electronic viewfinder as an option. The DF-N1000 is expected to provide an image coverage of nearly 100 percent and resolve it with 2,359,000 pixels.
Also available as optional accessory is the new GR-N1010 handgrip, which includes a trigger, a dial and a programmable function button as additional controls. It is intended to provide more stability when shooting with telephoto lenses. Without the built-in handle, the Nikon 1 V3 has a front and a rear dial, two programmable function buttons and a dedicated button to start the video mode. A feature button is also designed to facilitate access to the camera menu. Otherwise, the operation is performed mainly via the touchscreen.
When shooting with the Nikon 1 V3, the user has nine shooting modes available: automatic, automatic program, automatic shutter, time automatic, manual exposure control, creative mode, moving snapshot, extended film mode and "best moment capture". The latter has now, among other things, the function "multi-moment selection", in which the camera takes up 40 full-resolution pictures in sequence from which the photographer can then select.
The Nikon 1 V3's new hybrid AF system will also benefit from video features. So Nikon promises a fast and precise autofocus in the AF tracking film. HD recordings are possible in 1.920 x 1.080 or 1.280 x 720 at 60p or 30p. A slow motion function allows you to record at 120 frames per second for 3 seconds - the result is a 12 second clip. Additional creative movie modes such as time-lapse and 4-second film are directed at the Instagram and Vine generation.
Recorded pictures and movies can be shared directly from the Nikon 1 V3 via WLAN. For this, Nikon provides the "Wireless Mobile Utility" for iOS and Android free of charge.
Nikon has also launched two new 1-Nikkor lenses to match the upscale requirements of the new Series 1 flagship: the 1K Nikkor 4.5-5.6 / 70-300mm VR Supertelevision lens and the new 1 Nikkor 3 zoom lens, 5-5.6 / 10-30 mm. The latter is to be available as a kit lens for the Nikon 1 V3.
The Nikon 1 V3 is to come from the middle of April 2017 in various kit variants in the trade come. The price for the body is at 850 euros, with the new kit zoom at 950 euros. The optional DF-N1000 electronic finder is designed to cost 350 euros, and the GR-N1010 handle is 180 euros. In the package with viewfinder, handle and the new kit zoom lens, the Nikon 1 V3 is to be available for 1,250 euros.
