5 Tips: Optimal photos by mobile phone

Thanks to the increasing megapixel numbers, zoom and autofocus, the Kamerahandy more and more replaces the normal compact camera. But unfortunately many photos shot with the mobile phone look extremely bad. This is how this works and how to avoid the greatest breakdowns.

1. Shake pictures

The small camera openings allow only a small amount of light to pass through the image sensor. Therefore, the photo handys work with long exposures and which are prone to wiggles. That is why it is important to keep the mobile phone as quiet as possible while shooting. Excessive arms are an unfavorable attitude, even if the display can be observed better. Grab the cell phone if possible with both hands, keep it as close as it goes to the body and then press the shutter release button. This reduces wackler to a minimum.

2. Contrast and milky images

You can not defuse some photos. Because even if you clamp the phone or lie down, it can happen that the pictures become blurred, because their motives move too fast. Here only light and many shots help. Perhaps one of them is less blurred.

3. Backlight

For some smartphones, there are applications that automatically trigger serial recordings. This includes Gorillacam for the iPhone. Here you will find the 3-shot burst function, which always takes three photos per trip. The built-in self-timer also helps to capture low-shake images.

4. Noisy pictures

A phenomenon has plagued cell phone cameras since the beginning. Their photos are not very contrasting and sometimes even milky. This can be solved immediately with a software application - either in the camera or at home on the computer. A free iPhone software, with easy-to-understand interface is Photoshop Mobile. The Auto Adjust (79 cents) is a cost-effective way to even shadows, mid-tones and spotlights with sliders.

On the computer, for example, the free Paint.Net offers everything you need for contrast enhancement and color correction.

The natural enemy of all photographers is called backlight. It produces image areas, misalignments and lens mirrors. This means: if possible, do not shoot in the direction of the light source or even the sun, but try to keep the sun behind.

The small sensors of the mobile phone cameras have massive problems with the picture noise. This is especially evident in poor light conditions. Unfortunately, the problem can not be solved completely but can only be reduced. In Paint.net, select "Noise Reduce Noise" in the "Effects" menu. Position the sliders so that the noise is minimized without undesirably many image details being lost.

A radius of 1 and a strength of 0.30 are a good starting value for most mobile phones. If you have a model that is equipped with more than 3 megapixels, you can use a different trick: Reduce the photo after the noise reduction by 15 to 30 percent. This reduces the amount of interference.

Mobile phone cameras usually offer only a digital zoom. This image magnification works exactly like the one in the image processing program and provides qualitatively significantly worse results than an optical zoom, as is reserved for "real" cameras. Instead of zooming in with your mobile camera, you better use your feet - get closer to the subject if you want to zoom in on it.

5. Zoom artefacts
