The free program Tire enables you to use Google Maps for route planning on your PC and transfer the distances you have created to your navigation device. The software developed especially for TomTom and Garmin devices is intended for motorcyclists to plan trips comfortably at home PC. But also the route for the next holiday by car or the weekend cycle tour and hiking route can be arranged with Tire in peace at the PC. Unlike the program name Tyre at the first moment suggests, it is not for the English word tire, but is the abbreviation for “Trace Your Route Everywhere”. The German-language interface is clearly structured. In the map window on the right side, individual waypoints can be created by mouse click or loaded as coordinates from a text file which serve as the basis for the route. To the left, Tire clearly shows the generated points in a list. The route points can then be transferred to the navigation device with Tire. Maps that are already stored on the navigation system also read Tires and show the waypoints on the map of Google Maps. Practical: thanks to the technology of Google Maps and Google Earth, the prepared routes can also be displayed in the satellite and terrain view Paths during planning are also understandable in a realistic environment. You can also manage, edit, and create POIs (points of interest) using TIR and transfer them to the navigation system without additional software.
