A Pokémon GO ban at schools in the United States would like teachers ‘and parents’ associations.
Appeals alone will not be enough
Will Pokémon GO be banned in schools soon? The answer is "yes", at least if there were teachers and parents' associations in North Rhine-Westphalia. These fear that many children and young people after the beginning of the school would prefer to hunt for Pokémon than to take care of the lessons. That is why the associations demand not only a Pokémon GO ban, but a general, "temporary smartphone ban". This is what the "Rheinische Post" reported in its Monday issue.
Schools decide for themselves
"We have to make clear announcements, but we will not be enough for the Pokémon," says Peter Silbernagel, the chairman of the Philharmonic Association in North Rhine-Westphalia. It therefore calls for a ban on the use of smartphones before the start of the hearing and during the breaks. Corresponding strategies to achieve this need to be developed in teacher and school conferences.
Smartphone rally
Regine Schwarzhof, president of the parents' association, also supports a Pokémon GO ban. But she also sees the parents in the duty. They should tell their children "clearly and declare that smartphones do not have to look at the school," says Schwarzhof opposite the "Rheinische Post"

As with Pokémon GO and the smartphone usage is bypassed, each school can decide for itself. However, in most teaching contexts at the end of the school year, there are currently more pressing issues to discuss than the smartphone game.
In addition, there is little time for teachers to discuss new rules. In North Rhine-Westphalia, the school starts on Wednesday 24 August. The summer holidays are also ending sooner or later in other federal states. For example, the school began weeks ago in Lower Saxony, Saxony, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt. Horror news about the consequences of the Pokémon-GO-Hypes in the schools remained so far.
